At Fast Forward Music, technology enhances our dynamic learning environment for both staff and pupils. We implement robust systems to ensure the safety of all users while embracing the benefits of digital tools in our educational and social activities.
Internet Use Policy
All internet activities within Fast Forward Music are filtered and monitored to safeguard our users. Usage guidelines are strictly governed by our ICT Acceptable Use Policy, ensuring a secure online experience for everyone involved.
Key Safety
Communication Safety:
Only communicate via email or direct messaging with known contacts. Use an address book to manage your contacts safely.
Personal Information:
Never disclose personal details online such as your real name, address, phone numbers, or school information. Always use a nickname for gaming or interacting on websites.
Email Caution:
Avoid opening emails from unknown senders and never share your passwords.
Social Interaction:
Use webcams only with familiar people and be cautious about sharing images, as they can be easily distributed online.
Meeting Safety:
Never arrange to meet someone you’ve only interacted with online without real-life acquaintance.
Reporting Uncomfortable Situations:
If something online makes you feel uncomfortable, report it to a trusted adult immediately.
Public Posting:
Be mindful of the comments and images you share on social networks or through game consoles. They can be viewed by a wide audience.
Parental Guidance and Resources
To support safe internet use at home, we recommend visiting the following resources:
ThinkUKnow: www.thinkuknow.co.uk/parents
Access advice on keeping children safe from abuse online. This site provides resources for managing a variety of online risks and supports parents/carers in navigating these challenges effectively.
Child Exploitation and Online Protection Command (CEOP): www.ceop.police.uk
A platform where you can report online abuse or suspicious behavior. CEOP is committed to protecting children from both online and offline exploitation.
Internet Matters: www.internetmatters.org
A non-profit organization offering extensive guidance on cyberbullying, online reputation management, and other internet safety topics. It provides practical advice on setting controls and understanding app-specific issues and age restrictions.
Reporting and Response
Fast Forward Music has incorporated a “Report Abuse” button accessible to both young people and adults. This button links directly to CEOP, facilitating prompt action on any reported concerns.
Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support
We provide tailored resources to support children with SEN, from those with mild learning difficulties to sensory impairments. These resources are designed to make the internet accessible and safe for all our students.
