Director (Founder) – Steve Lee (DSL)

As the Managing Director of Fast Forward Music, Steve Lee is the driving force behind the vision and day-to-day operations of our provision. Steve holds the critical role of Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ensuring the safety and well-being of every student in our care. Beyond his other official titles, Steve’s commitment to delivering an inclusive, creative, and supportive environment is unmatched. His passion for helping young people succeed fuels everything we do, making him an integral part of our mission to transform lives through education.

Director (Founder) – Scott Ballam

As the Director of Student Placement & Systems Development, Scott plays a pivotal role in shaping the success of Fast Forward Music. Scott is responsible for Quality Assurance compliance, ensuring that all data processes align with regulatory standards. Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) – Chris Oliver

Chris brings with him over 21 years of experience of working in various education settings. He has held positions as a mentor, careers advisor, fitness instructor, pastoral lead, workshop facilitator and safeguarding lead, and is passionate about supporting young people to realise their true potential and thrive. Chris is also a spoken word poet, rapper and event organiser, so he brings variety of skills and knowledge to the Fast Forward team in his role as our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

Stephen McLaughlin – Creative Industry Tutor & Deputy DSL

With over 30 years of teaching experience across further and higher education, I am an experienced educator and keynote speaker at photography events. I also manage a children’s club within community gardens and have a long standing commitment to community engagement, fostering creativity, learning, and social connection.”

Head Of Curriculum – Chris Goss

Chris brings nearly 20 years of experience as a lead tutor in music technology across various education centers in Nottingham. As Head of Curriculum at Fast Forward Music, Chris is responsible for designing and developing all curricula, ensuring they meet RSL (Rockschool Ltd) standards and maintain the highest educational quality. Chris is dedicated to establishing the provision as a leader in music education.

Creative Industry Tutor & One To One (AP) – Paul Gribby 

Paul Gribby is a highly skilled and innovative music producer, DJ, and educator with extensive experience across the UK and international music scenes. He has a proven track record in music production, DJ performance, sound design, and artist development. Proficient in Ableton Live, Paul produces professional-grade audio through expert-level recording, editing, mixing, and original sound creation using field recordings and synthesisers. Passionate about music and mental health, he delivers 1-1 DJ and music production lessons and runs inclusive workshops in schools and youth centres, supporting young people from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health and learning challenges. He collaborates closely with artists to shape their creative vision and provides mentoring to help them navigate the music industry, including guidance on signing with record labels. Paul holds a First-Class BA (Hons) in Music Production from the University of Wolverhampton and NOCN qualifications in Creative Technology. He is known for his creativity, attention to detail, and commitment to empowering the next generation of music talent through education and mentorship.

Creative Industry Tutor (AP) – Kevin Coghiel

KC, a music producer, mix engineer, and educator dedicated to helping artists and creators bring their vision to life. With years of hands-on experience in production, mixing, and mastering, KC has worked with a wide range of clients while also building a platform that teaches the art and science of music-making.

Maths and English Tutor (P16) – Steve Solbe

Steve Solbé brings over 35 years of diverse teaching experience across Key Stages 1 to 5, combining a deep passion for education with an innovative approach to learning. Steve’s recent focus has been on supporting Looked After children and pupils in Alternative Provision, helping them succeed in GCSE Maths, English, and Music. With a natural ability to connect with students, Steve tailors his teaching to individual needs, fostering confidence and achievement in both academic and personal growth.

Creative Industry Lead Tutor (P16) – Thomas Bacon

Thomas “Bakes” Bacon brings a vibrant and enthusiastic teaching style to Fast Forward Music. His hands-on experience as a resident sound engineer and event co-host has seen him organize, promote, and manage various events, providing a wealth of real-world expertise to share with students. Bakes’ approachable and youthful energy connects with students on multiple levels, fostering an enjoyable and supportive environment that encourages creativity and confidence in their learning journey.

Maths and English Tutor (AP & P16) – Sarah Dixon 

Sarah, our Maths and English Tutor, brings 30 years of experience as a qualified teacher specializing in SEND. With a career spanning both mainstream and special education sectors, supporting entry level through to GCSE. Sarah is passionate about supporting students who face challenges with behavior. Her background includes working as a Behaviour Support Teacher for Derbyshire County Council, where she supported students at risk of exclusion and trained school staff to work with complex needs such as ASD, ADHD, and SEMH. Known for her creative and engaging teaching methods, Sarah is dedicated to helping students rebuild confidence in their education.

Creative Industry Support Tutor (P16) – Richard Douglas

“Dougie”, brings over 30 years of experience in the music industry, including roles in sound engineering, youth work, and music education. As the founder of the “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Academy,” he has supported young people through creative mentorship and innovative projects.

Known for his incredible rapport with students, Richard uses music to connect, inspire, and foster personal growth, making him an integral part of our mission to empower young people through creativity.

Creative Industry Lead Tutor (P16) – Mark Pearson

In education, Mark has over 20 years’ experience supporting young people through music and creative arts. For 13 years, he taught at Confetti as a post-16 Level 3 BTEC tutor, covering a wide range of music industry subjects and hosting guest lectures with figures such as Sarah Story, Aziz Ibrahim, Roger Linn, and Bushwacka. More recently, he has managed Level 1 post-16 programs, combining industry expertise with mentorship to help students progress in both education and creative pathways.
